We may have seen commercials, banners and other notes about cancer awareness and along with these advertisements are usually ribbons with certain colors. Most of us are familiar with many of the awareness ribbons out there and we know that they represent a single cause like cancer or aids.
Did you know that apart from the famous ribbons that we are seeing, many other known cancer awareness colors and ribbons are out there, each can represent a combination of illnesses, causes, life events and other triumphs or it can also serve as our united symbol to keep on fighting for our own cause. The Pink Ribbon
As we may have seen in television ads, one of the best examples of cancer ribbons is the one in pink color. The pink ribbon is best known to be the symbol for breast cancer awareness and also an icon for those who have conquered cancer and for everyone who wants to be aware about it. Chosen to represent the pink color because it represents femininity and for this it is also very commonly used for nursing and birth mothers.
The Yellow Ribbon
We are also very familiar with yellow ribbons, from national symbols to songs and now even for cancer awareness colors. For most of us, it is nationally known to symbolize gestures of support for our brave and beloved troops. In some, they also use it as an awareness ribbon color for suicide prevention but for cancer ribbons, the color yellow represents bladder, liver and even bone cancer.
The Gray Ribbon
We might not be that familiar with this color but it does say something about cancer awareness colors. For those who have been a victim or knows someone who is fighting brain cancer ñ this color is familiar.
The Teal Ribbon
This is one of the cancer ribbon colors that are becoming more visible especially if you are a woman as this is for cancer awareness ribbons that represent ovarian cancer. It may not be as wildly known as breast cancers but as of today, the numbers of people who are at risk with ovarian cancer are rising and this is a fact.
The Peach Ribbon
This color of cancer awareness ribbons are for those who suffer and have overcome uterine cancer. It is, same with the other color - it aims to inspire and unite people who are in this fight.
The Teal and White Ribbon
This type of color for cancer awareness ribbons represents cervical cancer. This is still one of the cancers that are very hard to detect but with proper awareness it can be detected early and can be treated.
The Grey Ribbon
The grey color for cancer ribbons may not have been that famous but it signifies brain cancer which is very dangerous and it is one of the cancers that we need to know and be aware of.
The Dark Blue Ribbon
Colon cancer is one of the most threatening cancers but is one of the least focused on. The dark blue cancer ribbon represents awareness, goals and struggles of people that have lived with this sickness.
If you have a family member that has cancer or if you yourself is fighting this disease, you know how difficult it is to stay strong and to have the will to survive. Weíd wish that all people should be aware of this so that they would be able to know if they are experiencing the symptoms.
